Tropical Storm Eta- 28th Named Storm Forms In The Caribbean

Tropical Storm Eta – the 28th named storm of the season – formed in the Caribbean late Saturday night and was upgraded to hurricane status on Monday morning. It is expected to move westward through Tuesday with a gradually decreasing forward speed as it reaches the western Caribbean.

Eta’s sustained winds grew to 75 mph this morning and it is expected to rapidly intensify over the next 18 hours as it approaches Nicaragua.  Eta is forecast to reach category 2 status when it makes landfall in Nicaragua, where damaging winds, storm surge and heavy rain causing flooding and landslides are possible.
