Tropical Cyclone Harold strikes Vanuatu

Tropical cyclone Harold, a powerful storm equivalent to a category 5 hurricane, made landfall on the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu on Monday.

The storm is moving eastward toward Fiji today, and has been downgraded slightly to Category 4, according to the Vanuatu Meteorology and Geo-hazards Division. Strong winds, heavy rains and flooding are expected in Fiji.
