M 7.3 earthquake strikes Venezuela; strong quakes also recorded in Vanuatu and Oregon

A powerful M 7.3 earthquake struck the north coast of Venezuela yesterday at 5:30pm local time. The USGS reported the depth of the quake to be 76.5 miles, and shaking was felt in Caracas, which is located 375 miles west of the epicenter.

Strong earthquakes were also recorded overnight in Vanuatu (M 6.5) and off the coast of Oregon (M 6.2).
