Central Pressure:  949 Mb

Discussion:

According to the Central Pacific Hurricane Center (CPHC), Hurricane Lane has weakened a little and is moving to the northwest at 7 mph.

Hurricane Lane is forecast to continue a slow weakening over the next day or so and then a more rapid weakening is expected.  The track will gradually become more northerly as Oahu is approached but a turn to the west is expected before landfall.  Hurricane Lane is decreasing in organization due to increasing wind shear and interaction with the high mountains, particularly in Hawaii.

The forecast models keep wind speeds at tropical strength  levels across the islands but a Hurricane Warning remains in place for most islands due to the uncertainty (and close call) of the track.

Flooding – especially across the island of Hawaii – is  the most threatening impact.  Rainfall of more than 20 inches across Hawaii is expected with locally more than 30 inches in favored upslope regions.  The steep terrain and high rain rates will cause significant flooding.  Most other islands are under a flooding threat as well.

Assessing the impact

Hurricane alert notifications that allow custom thresholds will result in targeted information sent when you need it, helping reduce the noise and producing actionable analytics. EigenPrism allows users to select the perils most applicable to their exposure sets, and then set customized thresholds for each peril and exposure set Alert. Thresholds can be set using a variety of metrics, including number of assets, impacted values, ground up loss, and damage factors. The result is smart Alerts that assess the impact for you, and let you know when it is time to act.
