Northwest US under extreme rain threat

An atmospheric river formed yesterday in the Pacific Northwest region could lead to a bout of serious rainfall in the northwest US coastline. This moisture-laden stream of air is forecast to drench the coastal areas dumping up to 10 inches of rain through midweek.

This atmospheric river is categorized as a level 4 or an extreme event and is forecast to produce serious flooding and possible landslides in coastal Washington and Oregon.
